Thanksgiving weekend

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I'm starting off with a few pictures around the house and then our holiday weekend review :) I can't tell you how funny it is to be calling Tyson and getting frustrated he's not answering and then find him like this. The kid just drops and it is just the funniest thing! We had tattoo night the other night. Tyson got them for his birthday and it was fun to get tatted up!

For Thanksgiving we went to Jason's Grandma's house in Cedar City. We drove up Thursday and I had to be back Thursday night to get Mark from his sister's house. He had a lot of fun spending the day with his sister, brother-in-law, and their friends but having him overnight would have been a bit much for them. So up we went with the kids , Darrell and even the dang dog. When we got to Cedar we found out that Jason's mother was being admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. So that was upsetting for everyone, we sure missed Grandma during Thanksgiving!!
When we got to Great Grandma's house there was a little snow left over by her house from a snow storm a week ago. The kids loved it! Especially Taylor who decided to eat it!
Isn't she a nut? I bet it felt great on those sore gums! Teething is the worst!

Taylor also loved torturing Great Grandma's dog. That poor dog wasn't used to kids actually jumping on it!
I didn't get too many pictures of Thanksgiving, it was pretty rushed. Taylor, Darrell, the dang dog and I left by 3pm so we could get home for Mark. Jason and Tyson stayed in Cedar City and were going to come home with Jason's parents who were going to drive through Vegas on Saturday.
Jason, Tyson and Grandpa went up to Cedar Breaks to play in the snow.

Then they went to a tree festival in town with Tyson's cousins.

On Saturday it started to snow in Cedar City and dumped bucket loads at Great Grandma's house. Tyson was in heaven!
Tyson also directed Great Grandma on how to set up her Christmas tree. The bottom of the tree was decorated by Tyson :)
Here are Tyson and his cousin Michael playing in all the snow at Great Grandma's house.
By Sunday Jason's mother was still in the hospital so we met in Mesquite to pick Jason and Tyson up. Jason's Mom is going stir crazy in the hospital but they still will not release her yet.
When Tyson got home he was very insistent that we go get a Christmas tree, after all his tree fun in Cedar City. We usually get a real tree and don't want to get it too early, so we compromised and let him set up the train that goes around the tree.
Do you have a fake tree or real tree?
It seems like real trees are fading out, but we love them.
We hope everyone had a fun filled Thanksgiving!

  1. Too bad about Jason's mom! I hope she is feeling better soon. I never, and I mean never thought I would own a fake tree, but about 4 yrs ago I suddenly decided we should get one, and I have to say I Love It! My main motivating factor was real trees were so expensive here in Las Vegas. But I do miss the feel of a real tree.

  2. I have to say, I just scrolled through your blog quickly at first and those little seals really fooled me--I thought they were real. I was like WOW, that's awesome! Yeah, maybe I should go to bed. I have a fake tree (given to me against my will by the in-laws) and it's horrible. It scratches me all up when I try to put it together. Stick with the real tree, especially for the kids!!

  3. fun pictures of Thanksgiving. So sad about Janeen. I know she missed you guys like crazy and not being able to be there. We are planning on getting our first real christmas tree :) We are super excited!! I grew up with a real tree but our last place was just too small. Now that we have some room we are really excited to get one this year.

  4. FAKE RULES!!! If you are worried about not getting the "real" tree smell- they make candles for that- which smell gross I think, but my mom has them and you think it's a real tree when you walk in the house! We had a real tree once and I think I am allergic- I was so sick! And I remember one year when I was a kid that the bowl thing for the water stained our carpet red- I don't know why red?!
