First scrimmage game

Tyson had his first scrimmage game last Saturday.  He sure sticks out with all that blonde hair :)
He is not on the starting line and didn't see that much playing time.  He's also new and doesn't know as much as the other boys and gets passed over a lot.  As I said before never again with this stupid league!  These coaches don't believe in rotating players and letting everyone play and learn, they are all about winning, even in a scrimmage.  Here the coach is telling him what to do. (I really don't like this coach, he won't learn anyone's names and pulls the kids around by their jerseys instead of asking them to move.)
See the difference in the stance of Tyson and the kid next to him.  Tyson is already helping the other team by having all his weight in the back.

Tyson got laid out in this scrimmage, he went flying through the air and landed on his back.  He got taken out because he couldn't stop crying.
At the end of the game the coach talks to the team and tells the boys they need to stop crying.  "This is football!  Toughen up!"  I guess the ref will take kids out during the game if they are crying.
Ryan was oblivious to her poor brothers sad day.  She had a ball with Taylor's umbrella :)

Sad first scrimmage, here's hoping it gets better!!

Thanksgiving Point

On Labor Day we were heading home from our niece's blessing and decided to finally go to Thanksgiving Point.  (Doesn't it always look like Darrell is a photo bomber?)
They had this huge room with all of these hands on activities.  I think the kids could have stayed there all day.

Taylor was so excited to make her own flying contraption.

Hayden couldn't be left out of anything Taylor was doing :)

This had to be the coolest thing ever!  A dinosaur body that the kids could actually make.  It had changeable heads, legs, arms and tails.  I'm going to try to talk Jason into helping me make one.  It can't be that hard right?  It would keep Tyson entertained for days!
Whenever we go to these places I feel you have to get the whole experience so we shelled out for the 3D movie.  We saw the Mammoths of the ice age.  I was kind of bummed I wanted to see the T-rex movie but with limited time we had to go to the next one that was showing.  I am so glad we saw the Mammoth one!
This is Tyson during the preview of the T-rex show!!!
We ended with this fun dirt and water display.  We saved it for last after reading Suzie's blog.  Thanks Suzie!

By the time we left Ryan was over not being allowed to touch all of the displays.
And I was more than done with our crazy quick trip.
It's fun to be spontaneous but it sure takes a toll :)

Quick trip to Utah

A couple of weeks ago Tyson and I came home from football practice on Friday night and told Jason that they had cancelled practice for the next day.  Jason then tells me, "Well I guess we could go up to our newest nieces blessing", that was happening the next day!  We got a hotel super quick and started packing.

These are pictures after the blessing and hanging out with family and friends.  The kids think poor Grandpa is a jungle gym.

Tyson hung out with all the "cool" kids.
We, of course, got an IKEA trip in.  Isn't this an adorable chair Ryan is modeling?
I found my next chair.  It was so comfortable.  I make this face the entire time I am at IKEA.  They watch my kids for free and I get to buy whatever I want.  (Thank you Jason!)
What I bought was this!!  Isn't it genius?!?  It is a shoe holder!  You would be amazed at the amount of shoes it can hold.  No more shoe bucket mess for us :)

After IKEA we took a quick jaunt over to the temple.  The kids have never been and it was fun to show them.  Tyson couldn't get his mind around who lived in "the castle".
The kids loved all of the different displays and it was fun to see the Book of Mormon displays.  After reading the Book of Mormon the kids act like they know everything.
I've never done a session in the Salt Lake temple and thought this mini replica of all the rooms was amazing!
After learning boring old history the kids were let loose outside.
Our kids had so much fun on real grass but Jason was at the store at 3am finding allergy medicine for them.  That is why we live in the desert folks.

Right before leaving we checked out the conference center.  The kids were so excited to tell us that they have seen this place on TV!  Hilarious :)
Super fun day!

Cookies & football

Jason sent me this link over 2 years ago for homemade chocolate chip cookies with a s'more inside them.  I recently discovered the amazing archive option on my email and was doing some cleaning and stumbled upon the link he sent.
You start with a basic s'more and then make a batch of chocolate chip cookies.  One batch of cookies only makes 4 cookies (6 if you stretch it), but these things are monster!  I was very skeptical while making them and thought, here I go wasting a whole cookie batch and these things aren't even going to turn out.
But they turned out awesome and I now dream of these delicious cookies.  They are my new favorite dessert ever!
Tyson is doing good at football.  We hate our organization, the coaches, team Moms and most of the other parents but Tyson is doing good.  We went with NYS, never again!  If anyone is looking into football go through NYFL.  Our team lets kids who have not paid on and then expect the rest of us who have paid to fund raise to pay for them.  I have never heard of such a backward organization in my whole life!
Here they are doing warm ups.
Tyson has a problem with his set. He puts all his weight on his heels and then promptly gets run over every time.
He is getting better at going after kids.  It makes me happy that he isn't the worst kid there.  He's not the best but he tries and tries every practice.  He also doesn't complain about all the practices. We are still on 4 a week and he gets the gear on and goes.

When he comes home he is a sweaty and smelly mess!
We love football!!!
