This month the 12x12 fell on the day we were going to the fair. So there are quite a few more pictures than 12 :)
We started our day signing up for mutton bustin'. Tyson and Taylor have talked about it for a month and finally the day was here. They got their numbers, we paid our registration fee, and we officially signed in.
I don't know if you can tell where my kids are in line. Oh yeah, they're the city slickers :)
Taylor went first, here she is with her huge helmet. I was shocked that she actually went through with it. The whole competition started off with a total cowgirl chickening out and bawling her eyes out when they set her on the sheep. Jason was back with the kids and I had the baby and Hayden. Jason said he didn't really talk to her about it, he just said, "Your turn", and threw her over the rail and onto the sheep. Gotta love Dads!
Here she is in all her glory. Her ride lasted maybe a second and her score was 47 out of 100.
Taylor said she was crying after it was over because the sheep stepped on her when it threw her off.
Tyson didn't last much longer than Taylor. His score was 51 out of 100.
They gave each of the kids a t-shirt and an envelope. The top five scorers went on to the championship round later that night.
The kids were shocked to receive $5 each in their envelopes. It burnt a hole in their pocket the rest of the day. I was glad after they finally spent them. Taylor bought pig earrings and Tyson bought a milkshake.
We love seeing the pig races. Here is the whole crew and some members from our ward who we ran into. You never know who you are going to see at the fair. We also ran into Jason's aunt and uncle. Their daughter was singing in a mini talent show.
There goes swifty the pig swimming across his huge tub.
My favorite has to be the huge pigs flying around the track. I love all the funny names they name the pigs. ie. Kevin Bake-ham, Britney Spare-ribs, Lindsey Lo-ham, Christina Ham-ulara :)
While Ryan had a 10 minute nap under the shade canopy, Jason took the terrible T's to do the water balls. Taylor some how skinned her elbow inside the ball and said she can never do the balls again.
We walked through all of the animal displays. Hayden was amazed and kept talking to the animals in their native tongues, moo-moo, bah-bah, cock-a-doodle-doo. Maybe we have sung Old McDonald one too many times :)
Isn't that the coolest baby spotted pig you've ever seen? Darling! I always want a baby pig until I see the huge Momma pig, what the heck would I do with that huge thing?
The one and only picture of me and of course I am eating ice cream. Ryan is a huge ice cream fan too, as you can tell.
Love the pony rides :)
Tyson really wanted to rock climb and did really well for his first time.
This is how far he got before he gave up. He got stuck and couldn't figure out where to put his feet next. I've never rock climbed before so I was really proud of him for giving it a go.
Taylor saw a little girl doing flips on this jumping thing and told me she could do way better.
She started going high and got a little freaked out but then got the hang of it.
Gotta love that crazy girl!
Super fun day at the fair. It wasn't too busy and we got everything done that we wanted to do.
